Vision, Mission and Guiding Principles

 

VISION:

To create a state-wide, unified system of learning for those persons providing services and supports to children, aged 0-3, and their families in order to strengthen families and optimize the developmental outcomes of the child.

 

MISSION :

•  To facilitate the provision of learning opportunities for those pwersons serving children, 0-3, and their families.

•  To partner with existing systems of learning to build a unified system of learning.

 

GUIDING PRINCIPLES:

•  Learning opportunities based on evaluated models of service and research based information.

•  Learning opportunities are provided through different modalities to insure accessibility for the broadest possible audience of service providers

•  Learning opportunities are provided using best practice standards for adult learning.

•  Learning opportunities reflect and respect the culture of the families receiving services and the learners.

•  Statewide, unified system is designed to optimize the use of the existing training, technical assistance, consultation assets available.

•  Statewide system is designed to join training, TA., consultation and formal academic learning opportunities to maximize opportunity for the individual service provider to receive formal recognition of their professional development.

•  Learning opportunities promote:

•  the recognition of parents as partners in the decisions regarding the provision of services

•  the recognition of parents as decision-makers and respecting their family's values

•  family strength-based services, planning

•  the recognition of parents as “experts” about their child(ren)

•  the use of formal and informal services and supports

•  relationship-based approaches to child development

•  relationship-based approaches to service delivery

•  Statewide system is designed to use agreed upon definitions of common conrent units (time) for the learning opportunity.

•  Statewide system is supported by multiple funding sources (federal, state, local, public and private funders (also inkind contributions)

•  Statewide system facilitates learning opportunities provided by:

•  individual/consultant - public service systems

•  higher education systems - private, for profit , organizations

•  private, non-profit organization
