Who
We Are
The Michigan Association for Infant Mental Health (MI-AIMH) is an
organization of individuals who are devoted to nurturing and strengthening
relationships between infants and their caregivers
Mission
Statement
MI-AIMH believes that each infant needs to be nurtured and protected by
one or more consistent and stimulating caregivers who enjoy a permanent
and special relationship with the infant. This relationship is not just
a luxury over and above the basic physical necessities of life, but is
the essential and necessary context within which every human infant learns
basic emotional, cognitive and social attitudes that will influence development
The
IMH Professional
Individuals involved in infant mental health come from many different
backgrounds including Education, Nursing, Psychiatry, Psychology and Social
Work. Other disciplines which use infant mental health principles in their
work include: Family Studies, Family Therapy, Human Development, Juvenile
Law, Medicine, Nutrition, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Special
Education
